Each year the Jazz Fest is an exceptional opportunity for music students of all ages to gain the esteem of their peers and to work one-on-one with world-renowned jazz artists, composers and educators. The DeMiero Jazz Fest is thrilled to again have a superb set of talented clinicians to work with our students. Here are this year’s clinicians:
Even though now retired, Dave is busier than ever doing workshops and clinics around the country. He taught at the University of Portland, directed Genesis at Mt. Hood C.C., and is a former director of Soundsation. Dave has arranged hundreds of charts for school vocal jazz groups (available at Sound Music Publications) and for Stan Kenton and the Four Freshmen. He is a longtime Festival favorite. (more...)
Darla Pumphrey holds a Bachelor of Music degree in both Choral and Instrumental Education from Boise State University, as well as a Master of Music in Flute Performance from the University of Redlands.
Kate Prather Reid
Jazz singer and pianist Kate Reid appears as a duo and with her trio and quartet at jazz venues in the Los Angeles and Miami areas. Kate can be heard performing with Miami pianists Martin Bejerano and Tal Cohen, guitarist John Hart and trumpet player John Daversa and his Progressive Big Band. She is a featured performer presented by the Miami Jazz Co-op. Kate has worked with many of the great jazz musicians in southern California including guitarists Ron Eschete and Larry Koonse, trumpeter and composer John Daversa, drummers Roy McCurdy and Jamey Tate.
