Each year the Jazz Fest is an exceptional opportunity for music students of all ages to gain the esteem of their peers and to work one-on-one with world-renowned jazz artists. The DeMiero Jazz Fest is thrilled to again have a superb set of talented musicians and vocalists. Here are this year’s artists:
FEATURED GUEST ARTIST
In a span of two decades, 11 recordings and countless stage performances, vocalist René Marie has cemented her reputation as not only a singer but also a composer, arranger, theatrical performer and teacher. Guided and tempered by powerful life lessons and rooted in jazz traditions laid down by Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington and other leading ladies of past generations, she borrows various elements of folk, R&B and even classical and country to create a captivating hybrid style. Her body of work is musical, but it’s more than just music. It’s an exploration of the bright and dark corners of the human experience, and an affirmation of the power of the human spirit. (more...)
VOCALIST & ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Dee has been part of our local jazz scene since the late 1970s where she frequently performed at Edmonds Community College, Soundsation Jazz Camp and at this festival. She has always been a favorite of students and directors. They kept requesting to have her come back because they loved how she cared about them and took a personal interest in each person to be the best they could be, no matter what they chose to do in life.
When looking for an Artistic Director for the DeMiero Jazz Fest several years ago, our board members unanimously requested Dee.
Pianist, vocal coach, actress, composer, arranger, Dee is a singer who sings the story.
